The trade chain "Liddle" faced problems with the previous government, claims Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, who met with the company's management on Wednesday evening in the Government House, where he was informed about the difficulties and administrative obstacles that the German market chain was facing in the past period.

- I had a meeting with part of the management of Lidl, which has been taking activities for the beginning of the investment in the country for a long time. We exchanged information about the many difficulties and administrative barriers they were facing from the previous government. Investors who want to invest in economic progress and will employ Macedonian citizens, must not be put aside. We will unblock the process on a fast track and soon we will have the Lidl market chain - it is stated in the post on the Facebook profile of Prime Minister Mickoski.

Lidl is the largest European food retail chain, which has been present in the country since September 2021. As the specialized portal "European Supermarket Magazin" announced almost three years ago, after Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, the German trade chain "Liddle" announced that it will open its first supermarket in our country as well. In February 2021, the German company registered its subsidiary in the country under the name "Lidl North Macedonia", which will be under the jurisdiction of the Bulgarian branch of "Lidl". According to the announcements, it was planned that "Lidl" would initially invest 500.000 euros in the country. According to the portal, Lidl's interest in opening a supermarket in the country follows after its store opened in Vranje, attracted a large number of buyers from Macedonia, but also from Kosovo.

Let us remind you that in January of this year the company laid the foundation stone for the large distribution and logistics center in Kumanovo. This center will be the point in and from which the supply and operation of all the markets that will be opened in the country will be coordinated. It is placed in a strategic location, along Corridor 10, that is, the road direction Athens - Belgrade, but also at the turn-off of the road to Bulgaria. The distribution logistics center will cover an area of 170 hectares in the Kumanovo industrial zone Recica.

Last month, however, the building of "Bricolaj" in Skopje's Keramidnica was completely demolished, and the space is fenced off so that the construction of the new Lidl market can begin. Apart from Skopje, a market will also be opened in the vicinity of Bitola.

By the way, Lidl is the largest European supermarket chain, present in 30 countries in Europe and the USA. In Macedonia, he should employ more than 150 people.
