Mickoski: We have strong evidence of the crime of 6,5 million euros in REC Bitola, Kovacevski is not in the country, we will return him
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced that according to the information he has from the structures of the Ministry of the Interior, it is an organized group of senior representatives of REC Bitola, as well as persons who manage other legal entities, who joined together and committed a crime of 6,5 million euros. According to him, a lot of evidence has been found and secured, but he will leave it to the Public Prosecutor's Office and the courts to do their work.
Earlier, the media announced that a major police action is underway in which people from the former management of Power Plants of North Macedonia (ESM) and REK "Bitola" are being arrested, suspected of abuse of public procurement. Unofficially, among the suspects is the former director of ESM and REC Vasko Kovachevski, but the police did not manage to find him at home. Mickoski confirmed Kovacevski's "absence" and said that he has not been in the country for a long time, but will be secured soon.
- We will bring all the arrested persons, except Kovacevski, who will be secured soon, to the face of justice and they should give an answer to the suspicions we have. It is worrying that what was found, and it refers to the crimes that were committed. You know that we were accused of having taken very little action in the direction of securing the persons involved in criminal activities. But we said and asked for patience, because we must have a clear procedure and the most important thing is that there should be cooperation between the two key factors – the prosecution and the judiciary. So far they have been loyal to the previous structures, but now I see that they are getting closer to justice. I urge the public to follow closely, and everything we say about organized crime will be available to the public, and we will present the evidence transparently. We will not make a circus or a variety show, justice is slow, but in the end it wins - said Mickoski.
