Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski asked to let the Prosecutor's Office and the courts rule on the escape from house arrest of the former member of the KLA, Blerim Ramadani, who was arrested last month at the Jažince border crossing and was to be extradited to Serbia for war crimes. .

Mickoski considered that this case is another reason to implement the justice reforms he is appealing for as soon as possible. He requested that the ideas in that direction be submitted by the end of this month, and then, as he said, they will have to implement the reforms for which the Government received the support of the citizens.

- I don't know what the sources are - Mickoski said about the sources in the media reports that Ramadani is in Kosovo.

Asked how the case will affect relations with Serbia, he pointed out that as a government they want to build good neighborly relations with all countries without exception and regardless of whether it is Albania, Greece, Serbia...

What is happening in our judicial system, Mickoski stated, is just one more step towards the need for the reforms that I have been calling for all the time.

- Two percent trust among citizens results in many such questions and dilemmas: why this happens, how it happens, why such decisions are made, why someone runs away, etc.. This is another reason to finally start dealing with reforms in the court-prosecutor system. Let the experts submit all the ideas that are intended to be submitted to the Government by the end of this month, and then we as the Government will have to start implementing them for the reforms that the citizens did not vote for - said Mickoski.

The Ministry of the Interior previously confirmed that Ramadani escaped from house arrest from the home of relatives in the country.

- The competent judicial authority submitted documentation to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the issuance of a central warrant for the person B.R. as it is currently unavailable to law enforcement. The Ministry of the Interior is taking measures to find the person - informed the Ministry of the Interior.

Ramadani, on the basis of the international warrant issued to Interpol by Serbia, was arrested on July 17, 2024 at the Jajince border crossing and taken to Shutka prison for 30 days of extradition detention. The content of the arrest warrant is based on Serbia's suspicions that Ramadani, as a former KLA soldier, committed war crimes in the Nerodime region.

On August 1, the competent Macedonian court changed Ramadani's sentence from "detention" to "house arrest" and, according to the decision, he was sent to an address in Skopje. With this decision, it was foreseen that he would remain under "house arrest" until August 16.

The Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dacic, during his visit to the Tabanovce border crossing on July 25, asked the Skopje authorities to extradite Ramadani to Serbia. The issue of his extradition was also raised during the visit of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Jellalj Svechlja, to Skopje on July 31. Svechlja said that Skopje should decide independently, accusing Serbia of tending to spoil relations between Western Balkan countries.

Ramadani, according to Kosovo media, is the third citizen of Kosovo as a former KLA soldier, arrested in Macedonia on the basis of a Serbian warrant. Gafur Dugoli and Tomor Morina were arrested in the past, but they were released by a court decision.
