Objective: The appearance of depopulation, which is decreasing and aging Albania, is worrying
In Albania, the birth rate is continuously falling. The biggest drop was recorded in the second quarter of the year, which is more than a worrying phenomenon, said Ilir Meta, until recently the head of the state and now the leader of the Freedom Party.
According to him, this statistic once again reflects "the crisis in the country with the aging population".
During the second trimester, 5384 babies were born, which once again reflects the crisis in the country with the aging population.
- Depopulation is reducing and Albania is aging. Another negative indicator for 2022, where 5384 babies were born in the second three months, which is 14,8 percent less compared to the same period last year, writes Meta in a post on Facebook.
At the same time, he criticizes the government's project for awarding a bonus for each newborn child, which began to be implemented in January 2019, because of the low amount.
- For young families, baby bonuses are very low, while corruption, unemployment, low wages, unaffordable housing prices, poor quality of education and lack of perspective make their lives unbearable, he wrote.
Meta promises that the Freedom Party will have a special program for strong support for young families to build a future here in Albania.
With the government program, the parents of the first born child receive a bonus in the amount of 40 thousand leka (about 330 euros), for the second 80.000 and 120.000 leka for the third child. If they are twins or triplets, they receive the same amount.
All newborns, whether born in or outside the country, who are registered in the birth register in Albania, receive a bonus.
