Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is growing in popularity, even though she has not been in politics or at the head of government for some time.
According to the latest INSA poll, conducted for the newspaper "Bild", Merkel is not only in the first place as the most popular German politician, but her advantage has increased in the last month, despite withdrawing from politics.
The former chancellor now has the support of 59,3 percent of German citizens, which is three percentage points more than the results of the poll conducted on November 29 last year.
In second place among the most popular German politicians is the Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach, while in third place is the current Chancellor Olaf Scholz with 51 percent support of the respondents.
