Mexican authorities have rescued 210 migrants hiding in a truck
Mexican authorities have rescued 210 migrants found in a truck in the southeast of the country, the DPA reported.
The foreign nationals were found in a trailer of a truck by National Guard and Migration Department (INM) agents at a checkpoint near the municipality of Esperanza in the southeastern state of Puebla. it is said in the announcement of INM.
The INM said that the agents opened the door of the trailer after hearing knocks and screams from inside. They found adults and children among metal scaffolding, blankets and air conditioning units.
The driver of the truck and the vehicle have been handed over to the prosecutor's office, the statement said, adding that they will probably be charged with human trafficking.
Mexican authorities two weeks ago found 600 migrants in the trailers of two trucks in the state of Veracruz.
