The legendary American tennis player stood behind Novak Djokovic and asked the US government to allow the Serbian to play in the last Grand Slam tournament of the year, the US Open.

Although the US government has eased its measures regarding the coronavirus pandemic, it still does not allow unvaccinated people to enter the country.

– Novak should be allowed to play in New York. Everything that happens around him is bullshit, and how it all ends, we'll see. The American government must have understanding towards one of the best tennis players in the world of all time - said McEnroe.

The former tennis player also understands Novak Djokovic's stance on vaccination against the coronavirus. McEnroe believes that Djokovic knows his body best and has the right to choose what he thinks is best for him.

- Djokovic sticks to his views and absolutely has the right to make such decisions on his own. He is one of the best athletes of all time. He chooses what he puts in his body very carefully, so it's frustrating that at this point, when the measures are totally relaxed and everyone is having fun, Novak is banned from the US Open. It really doesn't make sense - McEnroe thinks.
