International Holocaust Remembrance Day: The story is remembered, but the future is what we should strive for

To talk about the saga of the survivors of The Holocaust, we need thousands of hours and miles of sentences to describe all those genocidal labyrinths that the Jewish people went through in general, and Jewish women and girls in particular. However, we should and must reconcile with the past, but never forget it. The story is remembered, but the future is what we should strive for and work on.

These are just some of the messages that were sent to today's commemorative academy on the occasion of January 27 - International Holocaust Remembrance Day organized by the Department of Holocaust Education and Research at the Institute for Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of Albanians (IDKNA) in Skopje.

The theme of the commemorative academy is "The Holocaust Survivors Saga - They Caused Death - They Planted the Seed of Life", and is dedicated to Jewish women and girls who escaped the clutches of death.

According to the director of IDKNA, Skender Asani, the content that emerges from the title best expresses the dimension of human tragedy, which was played before the eyes of the whole world, in the middle of the last century.

The topic, as Asani said, bears this title to prove that we who know each other's sorrows, it is easier for us to forgive love and understanding, to all those to whom only one smile is enough in the most difficult times.

He recalled that the United Nations General Assembly last week adopted a resolution drafted by Israel condemning any denial of the Holocaust and calling on all nations and social media companies to "take active measures to combat anti-Semitism and the denial or distortion of the Holocaust." .

The resolution, he said, was passed in the presence of a group of people who survived the Nazi genocide that killed about six million Jews, about two-thirds of Europe's Jewish population, during World War II.
