Mejiti told Minchev to respect the Albanian language
First Vice Prime Minister Izet Mejiti warned the Minister of Public Administration Goran Minchev that he should respect bilingualism, that is, the website of the Ministry should be in Albanian.
- There is a decision in the Government to respect bilingualism and every ministry must be run in two languages, in both Macedonian and Albanian. If you do not respect this, you are committing a legal violation - Mejiti told the Albanian-language newspaper Lime.
For five months, the Ministry of Public Administration has been communicating with the public only in the Macedonian language, avoiding the legal obligation to inform Albanian citizens in their native language, Lime writes.
Minister Minchev said that they are preparing a new website that will also be in the Albanian language.
- We are currently using the old version of MIOA, which is the way it is, and I hope that soon we will have a new website, which in any case will also be in the Albanian language. If you come to my office, you will see that the name of the Ministry is in Macedonian and in Albanian language - said Goran Minchev and added that the announcements are sent in Macedonian language, and those who ask for it will also be sent in Albanian language.
