Majiti dismissed the director of the Cardiosurgery Clinic: I do not tolerate directors who sit and sleep

The director of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic, prof. Dr. Sashko Jovev has been dismissed from his position, and the information was confirmed today by the Minister of Health, Fatmir Mejiti, who stated that "whoever does not work, will be dismissed from his position".

There will no longer be directors who sit and sleep after five years, ten years and have no result. That is why our healthcare is in such a depreciated state. Whenever there are irregularities in operations and other things, I will act like this. This is just the beginning, you will see in the future with me as a minister, no one will sit for six months and not have a report on the work done, announced Majiti.

He said that Jovev is a member of the coalition partner SDSM and that they should propose another name.

Dr. Sashko Jovev for Фокус stated that according to him, one of the reasons is that when choosing a date for an event, Jovev pleased the prime minister, but not the minister.

A week ago, we opened a hybrid hall, and I can safely say that it is the only one of its kind in the region. However, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovachaevski and Minister Mejiti were supposed to attend the event itself. The two said different dates that suit them for the day when the hybrid hall will be officially put into use, but the Prime Minister insisted on a specific date considering the numerous activities he has. We decided on that date and that's when the minister got angry, who didn't show up at the event itself," claimed doctor Jovev for "Focus".

Jovev has not yet received Mejiti's decision on his dismissal.

Professor Dr. Sashko Jovev is the heart surgeon who led the team that performed the first heart transplant in the country in 2020, and since then a total of eight heart transplants have been performed.

Doctor Jovev was awarded the "St. Kliment Ohridski" - the highest recognition for long-term achievements in the field of upbringing, education, culture, art, health, sports, protection and improvement of the human environment and in social activities. He is also the winner of the lifetime achievement award "Shipmen" of the Municipality of Veles, as well as "November 13" of the City of Skopje.
