He added that at the meeting with the Chinese leader, the topics of Ukraine and Syria were raised, as well as issues of bilateral cooperation, "taking into account changes in international politics, including the Syrian crisis."
Answering journalist questions about the situation in Syria, Medvedev said that he is not sure that the unity of Syria will be able to be maintained after the change of power in the country, that all peoples and representatives of different religions will be able to continue to exist together.
"I have not yet heard the answer to the question of how it will be possible to find a consensus on the interests of Sunnis, Shiites, Alawites, Druze and Christians," he pointed out.
Medvedev recalled that for some time Russia gave serious support to the government of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, because "it understood what threats the possible collapse of Syria poses to the whole world, following the scenario of other countries in the Middle East."
