Russian state media and the Ministry of Culture launched a project called "The Word of the Classics" in which excerpts from the works of Russian writers are read. One of those participating in the reading is the former Russian president and prime minister, Dmitry Medvedev, who now holds a position in the National Security Council.

He quoted fragments of the work of the 19th-century Russian poet and diplomat, Fyodor Tyutchev.

Although, according to the announcements of the concept by reading Russian literature, he should stick to more relaxed topics, Medvedev took the opportunity to attack the West, citing passages in which Tyutchev talks about relations with Western countries, and especially with Poland.

"For centuries, the European West quite innocently believed that there could be no other Europe than its own. Once we recognize this, the real basis of the rapid successes that stunned the world and the extraordinary expansion of Russia becomes clear. You begin to realize that conquest and violence was the most natural and legitimate thing ever done in history. It was just one huge unification," Medvedev quotes the Russian poet who published a text under the title "Russia and Germany".

Then he referred to the parts of the text that refer to relations with Poland.

"It becomes clear why, one after another, all unnatural aspirations, forces and institutions were destroyed. It becomes clear why Poland had to fail. Here, of course, we are not talking about the original Polish people. God forbid, but for the false civilization and false nationality that was imposed on him," Medvedev Tyutchev quoted.
