Medvedev warns NATO that any encroachment on Crimea will be considered by Russia as a declaration of war
Any attempt by a NATO member to reach Crimea would be a declaration of war on Russia, which could lead to a "third world war," warned former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
"Crimea will be part of Russia forever. If a NATO country tries to invade Crimea, it will mean a conflict with the entire North Atlantic Alliance, which in turn will cause World War III and a complete catastrophe," Medvedev said.
Medvedev, currently Russia's vice-president of the Security Council, also warned that if Finland and Sweden joined NATO, Russia would strengthen its borders and be "ready for retaliation", which could include the possibility of deploying hypersonic missiles. Iskander on their borders.
