A man stabbed several people in Israel, killing at least three
At least three people have been killed in a knife attack in Bersheva, a town in the Negev Desert in southern Israel, security sources said. A man entered a shopping mall in the city and stabbed civilians, Israeli police said, suspecting it was a "terrorist" act.
According to the police, the suspect stabbed a woman with a knife, and then got in the vehicle and continued driving towards the shopping center, where he got out of the car and stabbed another woman and a man with a knife.
Civilians fired at the attacker
The civilians who were on the spot opened fire in the direction of the attacker and managed to "neutralize" him, the Israeli police added, without stating whether he is still alive. The Magen David Adom Center, the Israeli equivalent of the Red Cross, confirmed that three people had been killed.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who had just returned from a summit in Egypt where he met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and United Arab Emirates leader Mohammed bin Zayed, was aware of the Bersheva attacks and consulted with the Ministry of Public Security. .
