The President of the Association of Family Doctors, Dr. Lilija Cholokova Dervishova confirmed for Free Press that the Medical Chamber has sent a protocol for treatment with "ivermectin".

- A protocol was released to all GPs through the Medical Chamber. The protocol states that 12 milligrams per week should be taken preventively, ie 4 tablets if someone has been in contact with a patient, but still has no symptoms. While for the others, the dosage is 0,2 mg per kilogram of body weight over one day, says Dr. Cholakova.

Family doctors have already started prescribing ivermetkin, and patients are buying it preventively. After the news spread that the medicine was on the shelves of the pharmacies, the telephones in the surgeries of the home doctors became hot. A prescription for this drug is also sought by those who have not had direct contact with a positive of covid-19, but family doctors do not refuse.

Our interlocutor, 29-year-old Maria P., also confirmed that a prescription for this medicine is easy to find.

- Through a simple telephone consultation with my family doctor, I managed to get a prescription for "ivermetkin" in less than an hour. I myself emphasized that due to the nature of my work I am often in contact with those who are positive or suspicious of coronavirus. The doctor asked me if I knew how to use it, to which I answered in the negative, and she wrote me on a piece of paper to take the first and third day after contact, depending on my weight, says Maria.

In the office of the president of the Association of Family Doctors, Dr. Lilija Cholakova Dervishova, today there is an increased interest in prescriptions for "ivermetkin".

-Definitely there are a large number of patients who want to have this medicine at home, in case they need it. As a doctor, I can not make a selection to whom I will prescribe and to whom not. Most of the patients want to provide it due to the nature of their work, says Cholakova.
