Moroccan locusts have attacked a Bulgarian region, protection measures are being introduced

Measures for aviation treatment with detergent are being introduced in the Bulgarian region of Kardzhali, due to a disaster - a mass outbreak of pests of Moroccan locusts, the Regional Administration announced, the portal Novinite reported. The accident was announced by the Minister of Agriculture, and the measures were taken at the meeting of the Regional Epizootic Commission on May 20. During the meeting, it was announced that the affected areas are about 20.000 hectares, and the largest number are in the territory of the municipality of Chernochen. Spraying with ground equipment has also been reported to be ineffective.

"Almost 9.000 decares are the affected areas in the municipality of Chernocene, mainly in the area of ​​the villages of Zhenda and Stražica, and there are signals from Komuniga as well," said the mayor of Chernocene, Ayjan Ahmed. He clarified that experts will visit the field and that it is planned to introduce a partial state of emergency in the Municipality. A company will be hired to carry out the spraying in the coming days.
