Macron accepts Castex resignation, media announces Minister Bourne as his successor
The French president Emmanuel Macron accepted the resignation of the Prime Minister Jean Catex, the Elysee Palace announced today.
Castex resigned today from the President of the Republic, which he accepted.
The media write that the new Prime Minister will be the current Minister of Labor, Elizabeth Bourne.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister's office announced that Castex had resigned as President Emmanuel Macron.
The British media report that Castex's resignation enables the long-awaited reshuffle of the government after the presidential elections in April, in which Emanuel Macron won his second term.
Macron, who is expected to send a signal that he has heard messages from voters expressing low turnout and strong support for the radical far right and far left, has already said he is looking for a prime minister "with a green and social policy".
His allies say he is likely to nominate a woman as the new prime minister, who will be the first since Edith Cresson briefly took office as France's president in the early 90s. Francois Mitterrand.
