
Macron calls on Russia to accept ceasefire
French President Emmanuel Macron has called on Russia to accept a proposed 30-day ceasefire initiated by the United States and Ukraine. Macron discussed the situation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky noted in his evening address that he and Macron discussed diplomatic efforts and technical aspects of monitoring a possible ceasefire. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibikha announced that Kiev has already formed a national team to develop monitoring mechanisms for a possible ceasefire.
The US and Ukraine reached a ceasefire agreement on March 11 in Jeddah, but Kiev insists on its strict observance by Moscow.
