After the earthquake in Turkey and Syria at the beginning of February, as reported by European Handball Federation (EHF), the Macedonian women's national team will be the replacement for Turkey at the European Beach Handball Championship that will be held this year.

And in the men's competition, the Swiss national team will replace Turkey.

Due to the devastating earthquake, Turkey has withdrawn its national teams from the competition, which will be held in Nazare, Portugal, from 24 to 28 May 2023.

The Macedonian handball players will play in group "B" together with the Netherlands, Ukraine and the host Portugal.

Germany, which is the current European champion, is in group "A" with Denmark, France and Italy.

In group "C" are Hungary, Greece, Norway and Slovakia, and in the last group "D" Spain, Poland, Croatia and Romania will play.
