Macedonian handball "king" Kiril Lazarov celebrates his 42nd birthday
The Macedonian national team member and selector of our best selection Kiril Lazarov he turns 42 today, and as he still knows how to play at a high level, years are just a number.
Of course, the end of his professional career as a handball player is approaching, but of course we are already watching with great attention how his coaching career will move.
This summer the contract with the French club Nantes, and he will continue with the national team as a player-coach, although as he announced, at the next World Cup we will see 90% in a tracksuit.
A real goal machine, he will remain listed as one of the best right backs in the history of world handball.
He had a rich club career that he started in Fighter, so he won the first trophies with Bitola Pelister. Lined up titles abroad with Zagreb (seven-time champion of Croatia, five in the Cup), with Veszprem (five-time champion of Hungary, five in the Cup).
Then, in Spain with Ciudad Real (once won the Copa del Rey, ASOBAL Cup, ASOBAL Super Cup, Club World Cup, Champions League finalist 2010/2011), with Atletico Madrid (twice Copa del Rey, once ASOBAL Super Cup, ASOBAL Cup, Club World Cup), with Barcelona (won the Champions League in 2015, won the ASOBAL League three times, the ASOBAL Super Cup, the Copa del Rey, the ASOBAL Cup), and was a finalist with Nantes in the Champions League in the 2017/2018 season.
He had the greatest success with the Macedonian national team at the European Championship 2012, winning fifth place. He has 208 appearances and 1443 goals in the national jersey.
