The two discussed aspects of the European integration process of the countries in the region. Rumen Radev and Miroslav Lajčák emphasized the priority that the European Commission places on the topic of EU enlargement, which allows the Western Balkans to progress in fulfilling the membership criteria.
"President Radev expressed gratitude for Miroslav Lajcak's efforts towards the European integration of the Western Balkan countries and expressed hope that in the near future the leadership of the Republic of North Macedonia will show political will to implement the 2022 European consensus, namely the inclusion of Bulgarians in its constitution, which would pave the way for the country to begin negotiations for full EU membership," the Bulgarian President's office said in a statement.
