The shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant violated almost all seven standards for nuclear safety, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said. Rafael Grossi.

IAEA experts believe that the shelling did not pose an immediate threat to nuclear security, based on information provided by Ukraine, the BBC reported.

"All military activities that threaten nuclear security must be stopped," Grossi reiterated.

Europe's largest nuclear power plant has been under the control of Russian authorities since early March, although Ukrainian technicians continue to operate it, the BBC reports.
