In the month of June, we asked the followers of our official Instagram profile @slobodenpecat to share with us small, authentic local businesses that deserve visibility and are not able to allocate an advertising budget. We set only one condition: that the followers have a personal positive experience with the proposal they are about to share. Thus, today we introduce you to Tiana Ivanovska from "Sebe Slogalka" - a startup from Skopje that offers psychological and psychotherapeutic services.

"Jigsaw puzzleIs an entrepreneurial business, a startup that has been in existence for just over 2 years - formally a year and a half and is made up of eight young enthusiasts who set out with a common goal during the pandemic - to make life easier for people during the pandemic.

We talked to Tiana Ivanovska, who, after studying psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje and further education in psychotherapy that lasted nine years, was encouraged to start her own business because she was aware of the need to talk about and work on mental health.

"The most important goal of our company is innovative, the profit to be among the last places. I'm one of those young entrepreneurs who is not as interested in profit as he is in impact. The services we provide make a difference, something to change in society. We have that at the level of employees as well ", says Tiana, who is one of the rivers of psychologists who started their profession with a team, and not as an individual.

During the pandemic, Tiana started organizing free video talks on Instagram, in which she somehow wanted to use her knowledge to help the well-being of her followers.

"There was a great turnout, I received great support from friends, colleagues and co-workers and somehow it grew into an initiative that formed its own profiles, separated from me, and became its own entity. We have continued to create free educational content to this day. Our profiles serve us very little for marketing, as much as they serve us for education - in our country the best marketing is word of mouth. "The idea is for everyone to get a basic education in psychology and mental health, to be one click away from people's needs."

She says that communication with clients is also facilitated by the fact that there are also online sessions, they also work with people from the diaspora because it is "much more effective to work in their native language."

What services does Sebe Slogalka offer?

The team consisting of Tiana Ivanovska, David Zlatevski, Tamara Stojcevska, Dusica Candova, Elena Stavrova, Nikita Popova, Katerina Mitevska and Nikola Dukoski, works mainly on individual sessions, psychotherapy, psychotherapy with couples, and at the same time they take care of their health. of employees.

"Jigsaw Puzzle" also offers psychotherapy for children that is done through play, only that therapy can not be done online.

"It's my colleague Nikola Dukoski - psychotherapy for children through play, to project through toys because the child does not operate with awareness… They mostly learn through projection. This type of therapy is practiced for children from four years to ten years, and we have a special educator who works with children with disabilities. Parents are not present during these therapies - during the sessions, they work with the child, and there is an option for counseling for the parents. "We have mother-child, father-child packages designed to create an associative bond, so the parent sets an example for the child and the child feels safe."

Self-Assembly Thursday

"That's how we created "Thursday for Self-Assembly", which eventually turned into a tradition, I answered questions, not textually, but for each question I created a separate short video. People liked that personal approach, that's how we became recognizable and visible. That's still the idea - to simply raise the awareness of the people, especially the youth, about the mental health of the youth, that we as psychologists should be proactive," Ivanovska tells us.

Tiana says that anyone who calls Self Puzzle, asks if they have ever seen a psychologist or psychotherapist, offers a free consultation to find out what is bothering them. And, unfortunately, among the most frequently asked questions is of course how much a session costs.

"We know how to respond. "We have another initiative with the student association with 'Psychesko', with which we concluded an agreement for psychology students to whom we give a 20 percent discount, in order to stimulate them to come to sessions," she says.

The idea was originally intended for psychology students, because for them it is most important to come to sessions, because in the future they will have to do it. As he says, psychologists come out of Macedonia who don't have a single hour of work to do, and that's terrible.

The "Jigsaw" team offers help at "D Festival"

"Sebe Jigsaw" at the upcoming "D Festival" in Dojran will have two locations - a gazebo and a stand on the square.

"In the summer house that will be part of the camp, psychological help will be provided, it is not psychological therapy and it will be free. "There will be six of us and we will be placed in tents around the summer house, we will be constantly present for help," Tiana revealed.

When asked where the idea for psychotherapists to position themselves at this type of event comes from, Ivanovska said that the idea was the organizers of "D Festival", in order to represent the topic of mental health, and she structured it as psychological help.

"My idea was to give psychological help because people will surely need it. "I personally know a lot of people who do not go to festivals because they are anxious, upset, have panic attacks and when they are in a hurry they have no one to rely on, they have no support."

Basic difference between psychology and psychotherapy

"The biggest difference is in education. Psychotherapy is in a way a specialization for working with clients, for individual sessions. Psychologists with four years of education can only provide psychological counseling, and we do not have a single course for psychological counseling at the university, the studies are focused on research work and partly on clinical work. Psychotherapy deals with deeper topics, works directly with traumas and more difficult processes. It doesn't work on the basis of giving directions, but you, as an individual, have the answer in you, and I guide you through the process, to see what you have in yourself, but you don't see it," says Tiana.

The psychotherapist needs to be prepared to deal with all the projective techniques and more importantly to have a lot of work to do in order to help another.
