Ljutkov: Culture overcomes all political problems
Culture overcomes all political problems between the two countries whose diplomatic relations have been disturbed in the last period, it was emphasized at today's meeting with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev. This was stated by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Zoran Ljutkov, who is part of the high-ranking Macedonian delegation in Sofia, which is led by the president, Gordana Silljanovska Davkova.
As Ljutkov said in an appearance on Sitel TV, the meeting with Radev discussed the development of culture and tourism, as well as the economic benefits that both nations can have from cooperation in these two spheres. At the bilateral meeting, on the other hand, with the Bulgarian colleague, the Minister of Culture Najden Todorov, they discussed the necessity of frequent mutual visits not only in opera, but also in theater, as well as the large productions that will have to, it was pointed out, represent both countries. .
According to Ljutkov, cultural diplomacy between Macedonia and Bulgaria has always been at a high level.
-Culture does not fully recognize political diplomatic relations. Cultural diplomacy has always been at a high level between Macedonia and Bulgaria and this has been shown in the last 20 years. I think the relationships are great. Since the pandemic, from 2019 onwards, both in the area of budgets and in the area of international relations, it has lagged behind these few years, but that does not mean that we should not return to the same paths. What we are talking about today is that apart from the Macedonian Opera and Ballet, we need to deepen the cooperation in the big productions in the theater and other areas of culture, said the minister.
A large part of today's working lunch with Radev, he noted, was dedicated to the development of culture and tourism, which can have a great impact on the development of both countries.
The meeting with Todorov was Lyutkov's first bilateral meeting in his term with a colleague from another country.
- This was my first diplomatic bilateral meeting with the Minister of Culture. Todorov comes from the sphere of culture. We had a great conversation, we discussed that big productions will have to represent both countries, we will have to be present as often as possible in Sofia and Sofia in Skopje. We also talked about the two national theater institutions, to have such reciprocity during the year, informs Ljutkov.
On this occasion, he referred to the delegated budget in Macedonian culture and theater which will enable, as he emphasizes, the managers to create their policies more freely and to spend the funds that will be given to them in order to make bigger productions for the country to be representative not only in Sofia, but also in all European countries.
