On this day, a great love ended tragically on May 18, 1993 and became a sad metaphor for the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The fact that Bosko was a Serb and Admira a Muslim from Bosnia was not an obstacle for them or their parents. They have been in a happy, loving relationship for 9 years. "When the war started in 1992, Bosko's parents left Sarajevo, but he did not go with them because he did not want to leave Admira, believing that the war would end quickly." Unfortunately, they never saw the end. "

The couple decided to flee Sarajevo together, encouraged by a friend of the Bosnian army, who promised a safe passage for both, despite tensions and the dangerous division of the city.

Despite begging their families to stay in Sarajevo, Admira and Bosko moved from the Bosnian front line to the bridge from Sarajevo - the territory held by the Serbian army. The plan was to go to Belgrade through Grbavica, to start a new life.

When they crossed the Vrbanja bridge on the Miljacka river, around 17 pm, Bosko was shot by a sniper. The next shot wounded Admira, who was screaming in pain, but although she was mortally wounded, she crawled to her dead lover with all her might, wrapping herself in his arms. She is thought to have been alive for another 15 minutes after the shooting. She died next to her beloved Bosko.

Who is responsible for their death?

29 years later, it is still unknown. Admira and Bosko, dead and hugged, remained on the bridge for eight days. In 1996, after the end of the war, the bodies of Admira and Bosko were brought to Sarajevo, where they were buried next to each other in the Leo Cemetery.

In 1994, about the tragic end of the love between Admira and Bosko, the documentary "Romeo and Juliet in Sarajevo" was made.
