The Left submitted a proposal for amendments to two laws to improve the rights of persons with disabilities

Katerina Jovanovska, councilor in the City of Skopje and coordinator of the social sector of the Left, informed at today's press conference that the two MPs from her party submitted to the Parliament amendments to the Draft Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Social Protection and the Proposal to the Law on Amendments and Supplements of the Child Protection Law for, as he said, improving the rights of persons with disabilities.

With these changes, according to Jovanovska, Levica proposes to increase the cash allowance for persons with disabilities and the special allowance for children with disabilities by 78 percent. They also propose an increase in personal assistance services from 80 to 160 hours per month.

- The Left as a political party has always supported and supports people with disabilities in the fight for their greater rights. For that purpose, in accordance with their requests, on June 7 of this year, the two MPs of the Left, Dimitar Apasiev and Borislav Krmov, submitted to the Parliament a Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Social Protection and a Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Child Protection. It is obvious that this ruling set does not have the political will to even listen to, much less solve, the problems of people with disabilities, she said.

Jovanovska informs that the councilors of the Left in the City of Skopje submitted an initiative for a request for a day care center for persons with disabilities in the territory of the City of Skopje.

- We appeal and invite the MPs and councilors of SDSM, VMRO-DPMNE, as well as the other MPs and councilors from other advisory groups and parliamentary groups represented in the parliament and in the City Council of Skopje to support the legal amendments, to vote for them and thereby to prove that their support for people with disabilities is not just declarative, emphasized Jovanovska.
