Summer is an ideal time for travel with children, but sometimes going on a long trip seems like a nightmare to parents. Family vacations create a stronger bond, but how to entertain a child, what if he cries - are the questions you have ask many parents.

Preparations

If the children are old enough, make a list of things they want to do before you go on a trip. Together, make sure that these are the things they need and that they have forgotten something. Before leaving, it is a good idea to limit your luggage according to the number of family members, the size of the car and the length of the trip you are taking.

Prepare toys and fun games for the trip to go smoothly. If you travel by plane because the pressure often clogs your ears, be sure to bring a bottle or pacifier, and for older children a chewing gum. The air on the plane is dry, so make sure your child is getting enough fluids.

Traveling by bus may sound like a complicated option to most parents, but even here, coloring, a cartoon, or simply counting cars of a certain color or a fun game like "Letter, Letter…?" Can help. In case your child gets sick during the trip, give him medicine before leaving. And don't forget wet wipes and snacks.

Before the trip, parents should go to the pharmacy and get some basic medicines - just in case. You should bring a thermometer, patches, gauze, fever and pain medications such as paracetamol, ibuprofen and electrolytes. Electrolyte administration should be started immediately after vomiting, diarrhea or if there are signs of dehydration, such as extremely dry mouth and lack of saliva.

Gentle baby skin should be protected while driving, not just while enjoying the beach. Their skin is extremely sensitive to dangerous UV rays, so twenty minutes of exposure to direct sunlight is enough to cause sunburn.

Bring sunscreen with a high protection factor and do not forget to apply it several times while driving (depending on the time of day you are traveling and the length of the trip).

Travel

The key to a pleasant trip is good planning. It is best to leave when it is time for your child to sleep, bring plenty of food and fluids in case of unforeseen crowds.

The advantage of traveling by car is that you can stop and take a break at any time, therefore, planes and buses are a bigger problem. Eat light foods, fruits and healthy snacks. Avoid greasy, fried and sugary foods.

Before departure you should provide suitable travel conditions. Avoid high heat travel and plan trips with very short breaks in which children can use the excess energy accumulated by sitting in the car longer. Many children have problems with nausea and vomiting during travel. Calm driving, breaks and fresh air can reduce discomfort.

It is also necessary to use the climate wisely during the trip. The temperature in the vehicle should be comfortable and the air flow indirect and not too strong. Small water bottles, snacks and entertainment are a must during any trip. If you have car seat organizers - fill them with bottles of water or juice, snacks, favorite toys, picture books and other "supplies" that your children can not live without.
