Legendary Felipe Melo announces retirement at age 41

The Brazilian veteran Felipe Melo At the age of 41, he announced that he was ending his career.

The midfielder will be remembered for his temperament, but also for his rough starts towards opposing players.

"Today I am ending a great chapter in my career. They were incredible years, full of battles and victories, but above all, they were years in which I saw God's purposes being fulfilled at every step. Everything I did was guided by His hand, I am eternally grateful that I was able to do what I love," his message reads, among other things.

Melo began his career in 2001 at Flamengo and in the following years he played for: Cruzeiro, Gremio, Mallorca, Racing, Almeria, Fiorentina, Juventus, Galatasaray, Inter, Palmeiras and Flaminense, which was his last club.

He played the most matches for Palmeiras (217), followed by Galatasaray (154), Fluminense (104) and Juventus (79). He played 22 matches for the Brazilian national team.
