A man from Kocani earned criminal charges after it was revealed that he introduced himself as a hodja who treated victims of "black magic" and abused them for sexual acts or money fraud, said the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Gostivar.

The Public Prosecutor's Office issued an order for conducting an investigation procedure against one person for a continuing criminal offense - Sexual assault on a child under 14 years of age under Article 188 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 45 of the Criminal Code. Against the same person, as well as against two other suspected accomplices, a criminal procedure was initiated - Fraud in accordance with Article 247 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 22 of the Criminal Code.

The first suspect, a 37-year-old resident of Kocani, on two occasions on November 23 and 24 in an apartment in Gostivar, committed a sexual act on a child born in 2012.

The child's mother called on the suspect, who had previously introduced himself as a hodja, to "cure the child of black magic". The suspect asked to be left alone with the child victim in the room and forced her to other sexual acts.

The victim of fear did not say anything to the mother at first. When the mother wanted to call the suspect for the third time on December 5, the girl anxiously told what was happening to him, after which the incident was reported to the police.

The suspect, together with two other accomplices from Gostivar, deceived another victim.

The first suspect, in agreement with the other two, also introduced himself to the victim as a hodja who would help her remove the "black magic" from her house. On several occasions, the three persuaded her that in order to remove the spells, they had to dig up various objects from the cemetery and thus draw the spells from her and her home. They charged her a total of 98.000 denars for the service. When they started arranging a new meeting, the victim suspected that she had been deceived and reported them.
