Lavrov: Russia ready to study Trump's peace initiatives for Ukraine
Russia is ready to study US President-elect Donald Trump's peace initiatives on the war in Ukraine when he takes office next week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

Lavrov warned that Trump had previously announced that the war would be stopped within 24 hours of returning to the White House, before his inauguration, but added that Russia welcomed the fact that Trump's team had begun to talk about the "reality on the ground" when it came to Ukraine.
The Russian foreign minister said this was reflected in Trump's statements, as well as in comments by his incoming national security adviser, Mike Walz.
Walz told ABC television on Sunday that it was clear that the war had to be ended somehow through diplomatic means.
"I just don't think it's realistic to say that we're going to kick every Russian out of every inch of Ukrainian soil, even Crimea. President Trump acknowledged that reality, and I think that was a huge step forward for the whole world to accept that reality. 'Let's move forward now,'" said incoming U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Walz.
