Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government have "become an existential threat to Israel," opposition leader Yair Lapid said today, accusing them of destroying Israel's deterrence policy.

Speaking to reporters ahead of a meeting of a faction of his Yesh Atid party in the Knesset, Lapid noted that both friends and enemies of Israel "feel the weakness" of the current government.

- I was in Washington last week, at a meeting with the entire administration. They are shocked by this government: the lack of responsibility, the lack of professionalism, the bad management, he said, The Times of Israel reported.

Lapid states that while the US has reaffirmed its commitment to Israel's security, Netanyahu has not.

"All that is left of 'Mr. Security' are the ruins from Beri to Kiryat Shmona, the violence of Jewish terrorists that has gone out of control and the complete loss of Israeli deterrence," Lapid added.
