Leipzig pays 10 million euros for a new sporting director
The German Bundesliga club Leipzig is in negotiations with the sports director of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Max Eberl, for whom he is ready to pay compensation of up to 10 million euros.
Eberl, who has been part of the management of Borussia Mönchengladbach for 23 years, "produced" many great players, sold many players for big money, retired from football in January of this year due to mental problems, but now he wants to return to Leipzig.
The team, which is owned by Red Bull, is in final negotiations with Eberl, whom they see as the future sporting director, and to sign him they are ready to pay as much as 10 million euros to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The reason for that is that Eberl has a contract with Borussia until 2026.
If this transfer goes through, it will be the most expensive when it comes to sporting directors in the Bundesliga.
