Kurti: Serbia does not want an agreement with Kosovo, the West must change its mind
The Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti says that Serbia does not want an agreement with Kosovo and that the reason for that is that the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vuќi. he is disturbed by the progress made by the kosovo state.
Commenting on yesterday's failed attempt in Brussels, mediated by the European Union emissary, Miroslav Lajcak to reach an agreement between the two countries on the use of car license plates from one country to another, Kurti asked Lajcak to publicly say "which of the parties was not constructive".
- I have no dilemmas. I know that our chief negotiator (Deputy Prime Minister, Besnik) Bislimi was both constructive and creative, but it is clear that Belgrade is not interested in an agreement. We do not want to question the principle of reciprocity at all. It is up to the mediator to explain why the agreement was not reached, which was very close and for which Lajcak also advocated a lot, Kurti told the Kosovo Public Broadcasting Service, RTK.
The head of the Kosovo government says that Belgrade has been "intensifying its aggression towards Kosovo" lately, because Serbian President Vuќiчат is hindered by "Kosovo's success in all fields".
- The Serbian president is stepping up his aggression towards Kosovo and I am convinced that it is because of Kosovo's successes. "We have made progress in all areas, and that bothers him," Kurti said.
He urged the international community to let the Serbian authorities know that "they can no longer continue like this".
"We are doing our job, but the Western offices should also tell Belgrade that they can no longer continue like this," Kurti said.
