The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti assessed the American decision to end Kosovo's participation in the military exercise in Europe under American leadership as unfair and a disaster.

The American ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Howenier, announced the day before that the Government of Kosovo did not coordinate with the United States the actions taken in the north of the country and therefore suffered the first consequences, the cancellation of the participation in the "Defender Europe 2023" exercises.

"What we have seen is the suspension of the "Defender Europe 23" exercise, for which we have been preparing for two years. It's a disaster. I don't think it's fair, but who am I to decide? Let me emphasize again that the United States is an irreplaceable friend, partner and ally for our security and defense, for our democracy and development," said Kurti, answering the question of Radio Free Europe (RFE) whether the American measures are a blow to Kosovo.

Today in Bratislava, Kurti met with the High Representative of the European Union for Common Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borel, and the EU Special Representative for Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčak.

When RFE asked how the meeting with the European representatives went, the Kosovo Prime Minister emphasized that "the meeting was important".

"We have to have the implementation (of the Kosovo-Serbia agreement) on the right track, and I think that we have stagnated at times, and sometimes we deviate from the path. That is why it was very important for me to come to Bratislava for this meeting and inform Borel and Lajcak, because it should be clear about the recent events in Kosovo caused by Serbia, Kurti pointed out.

On the other hand, he emphasized, "it is necessary to implement the agreement as soon as possible".

Let's not forget, we have a contract, we have no choice. However, we do not have a solution, not because we do not have an agreement, but because we do not have an implementation of the agreement. I tried to convince Borel and Lajcak to focus 100 percent in terms of time and energy on the order of implementation of the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, Kurti noted, alluding to the road map he and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic agreed upon at the meeting in Ohrid on March 18.

Meanwhile, RFE reported that Lajcak will travel to Chisinau, where he will have a meeting with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.

Tomorrow, the Second Summit of the European Political Community will be held in Chisinau, in which Vucic will also participate, and Lajcak will go to Moldova only to talk with the President of Serbia about the developments in the north of Kosovo. After Moldova, Lajcak will be in Belgrade and Pristina, according to RFE.

The first Summit of the European political community was held in October 2022 in Prague, at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron.
