Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit North Korea on June 18 and 19, the Kremlin announced today.

North Korea is accused of supplying Moscow with ammunition for its offensive in Ukraine.

Putin will travel at the invitation of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the Kremlin said in a statement, describing the visit as friendly.

After visiting North Korea, Putin will also visit Vietnam on June 19 and 20.

Putin's visit to Vietnam follows the country's decision not to send a representative to the Ukraine summit in Switzerland at the weekend, but instead to send a deputy foreign minister to a meeting of the BRICS group in Russia earlier this week.
