Covid-19: Japan begins mass vaccination of the population in May
In Japan, general vaccination against Covid-19 will begin in May, and the government hopes that the majority of the country's adult population will receive the vaccine by July, before the Tokyo Olympics, according to Japanese media.
The green light from the regulatory agency in Japan for the Pfizer / -BioNTech vaccine is expected in February. Vaccination should then begin for about 10.000 doctors and medical workers at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus, according to Japanese print media.
In the next category for vaccination there are about 50 million endangered inhabitants - older than 65 years and those with health problems. According to government plans, they should be vaccinated by the end of April.
Vaccination of the rest of the archipelago, which has a total population of about 126 million, will begin in early May.
The government hopes most adults will receive the vaccine by July, when the Tokyo Olympics are scheduled.
