The broad consultation continues on the French proposal for the beginning of accession negotiations of the Republic of North Macedonia with the European Union. A meeting of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski with the leader of the Alliance of Albanians, Ziyadin Sela, has been announced for tomorrow, the Government confirms for MIA.

The meeting will be held at the Club of Deputies from 11 am.

Prime Minister Kovacevski confirmed today that he had a telephone conversation with Sela and that the French proposal will probably be presented to him tomorrow.

- There is still a part left for consultation, I had a phone conversation with Ziyadin Sela this morning, most likely tomorrow we will meet with the Vice Prime Minister for European Affairs to be presented to him, explained in all parts, Kovacevski said after today's meeting with the leader of the largest opposition party VMRO-DPMNE , Hristijan Mickoski, for whom such a proposal is unacceptable.

On Friday, Kovacevski had a meeting with the coalition partners in the Government. Some of them have already expressed positive views regarding the proposal, and some are expected to do so in the next period.

The French proposal was reviewed today by the Security Council convened by the President of the State, Stevo Pendarovski, who declared after the session that the French proposal was acceptable. By accepting the proposal, as he stated, we lift the Bulgarian blockade that has lasted for more than two years and allow the formal opening of negotiations after 17 years of waiting. A screening process is enabled, which is a mandatory stage before the negotiations on the clusters - chapters, and what is most important, as he pointed out, is that it does not undermine the Macedonian identity in any way because the fundamental determination about the Macedonian language in the proposal has a clean formulation without footnotes.
