Recognition of ethnic, national, religious and cultural differences is the uniqueness and essence of our community. The Serbian community in Northern Macedonia has a significant contribution to our community, which we have been building through the centuries and which we nurture today. It is very important that this contribution is made after the reputation of the great saint Saint Sava, said the Prime Minister of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Dimitar Kovacevski, at the Formal Saint Sava Academy.

The Academy on the occasion of the national holiday of the Serbs in the Republic of Northern Macedonia tonight was marked for the 15th time.

This day, as Kovacevski pointed out, is dedicated to one of the brightest and holiest personalities in the history of the Serbian people, Saint Sava, founder of the independent Serbian Orthodox Church and its first archbishop.

- When we say that his work inspires, we have before us our determination, the determination of the citizens of the Republic of Northern Macedonia to build and nurture a society equal for all. Civil, a society for all in which we affirm and establish mutual respect between all ethnic communities in our country, said the Prime Minister, sending heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the National Day of Serbs in the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

Zeljka Cvijanovic, President of Republika Srpska, on behalf of the citizens of Republika Srpska and on her own behalf sent warm fraternal greetings and gratitude for the support, understanding, and, as she said, the good cooperation.

- The Serbs in Northern Macedonia are an indigenous people present for centuries, with a rich cultural and historical heritage. The medieval, but also the modern history of our people is incomprehensible without Skopje, Kumanovo, Bitola, Kajmakchalan, as evidenced by the numerous monuments, beautiful churches, monasteries and you present, who proudly celebrate the name of Saint Sava and its national holiday, she said.

She added that she is convinced that it is the Serb community in this country that can be the one that will further connect institutions, artists, academia, athletes and many others.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selakovic, greeted those present on his own behalf and on behalf of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vuќi., and thanked for the warm welcome and patronage.

- In the Holy of Holies is actually gathered our desire to live together in peace and love, in brotherhood with others. And is there a more beautiful place, is there a more beautiful place in the world, dear friends, to utter this message right here in Skopje. Is there a stronger and more credible way to commit to love and friendship from the Svetosava press? I am convinced that there will not be, said Selakovic.

The Board for Awarding and Recognition of the Serb Community in Macedonia on the occasion of the National Holiday of the Serbs in the Republic of Northern Macedonia, St. Sava, traditionally this year awarded the "Charter of St. Sava" to prominent and honored members of the Serbian people and institutions in the most direct way they deal with or help in the survival and promotion of the people and their values.

The president of the Serb community in Macedonia, Gordana Jovic Stojkovska, presented the awards to Bori Ristic, Zorka Masin and posthumously to Dobrivoje Tomic and Tomislav Zugic.

Saint Sava is the founder of the first Serbian church, known as the Pec Patriarchate. In 1 he succeeded in gaining the independence of the Serbian Orthodox Church from the Byzantine emperor and the Ecumenical Patriarch, and he was proclaimed the first Serbian archbishop by the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Later, together with his father, Saint Sava built the Hilendar Monastery, as well as many other monasteries, churches and schools in present-day Serbia.
