After the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Brussels, Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, at a joint press conference with Rama and Vucic, rejected the French proposal to raise the Bulgarian veto and start RSM accession talks with the EU.

The proposal in this form is unacceptable for me, for the President, for the government, for the coalition partners and for the citizens of RSM. Let me say that the citizens of RSM should be calm. We always put the strategic interests and goals of the state first. No one can impose any solution without our consent, Kovacevski is decisive.

He stressed that everything has been done by the Macedonian side.

All 27 countries, all 27 leaders who have joined the Union, have all proudly joined with all their diversity and with full respect for their own and others' linguistic and historical differences. None of this was problematic on the European path. That's what we want, nothing more, nothing less. Respect for the linguistic, cultural, ethnic and historical identity of my people. To join the Union proudly, together with all EU members, together with all EU nations and meeting all membership criteria, said Kovacevski.

At the beginning of his speech, Prime Minister Kovacevski said that our country is wasting valuable time that is not available.

What is happening now is a big problem and a big blow to the EU credibility because the country has done a lot so far and made some difficult decisions and now is the time for the EU to fulfill its promises before giving new ones.

He also thanked Macron for his commitment to resolving the problems that arose with Bulgaria in the negotiations between RSM and the EU.

"We did everything, now the EU is on the move," Kovacevski said.

He stressed that historical issues could not be criteria in the negotiating framework.

- Negotiations between Northern Macedonia and the EU must begin before the start of the procedure for constitutional changes to include Bulgarians, Croats and Montenegrins in the preamble of the Constitution, Strong guarantees from both Bulgaria and the European Union that Bulgaria will not condition new requirements, outside what will be agreed in the negotiating framework and the bilateral protocol that has not yet been harmonized with Bulgaria.
