The Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski Today, he called on the MPs, without exception, including SDSM, to review the Law on Banks in the area of commissions and through a public debate in the Parliament to determine whether intervention can be made regarding the amount of the absolute profit of the banks coming from non-interest income. Kovacevski also said from the parliamentary rostrum that amendments to the Law on Financial Companies are being prepared.

He said this answering a parliamentary question Dimitar Apasiev from the Left who talked about the default bank interest and commissions accusing usury. According to him, these hidden costs are mostly for administrative costs, application fees, pre-contract fees and loan processing fees.

Apasiev said that the bankers were left without any supervision and their profit increased in one year.

- Stopanska Banka AD Skopje increased the profit by 16 million euros only on the basis of commissions, and Komercijalna Banka over 16 million, said Apasiev, asking if the NBRM plans to ban the banks from paying commissions and to the Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski whether the Government plans to reduce penalty interest.

The Deputy Governor of the National Bank Fadil Bajrami stated that the central bank operates in accordance with the laws in force.

-If there are initiatives for amendments to these laws, changes in that direction can be envisaged. Banks around the world are private and have their own tariffs and procedures. "Several months ago, the Parliament passed the law on the payment system and gave other financial institutions banking and non-banking opportunities, and when they enter the competition, it will affect the reduction of commissions," Bajrami said.
