Yesterday's storm did not cause major material damage in Strumica, but during the day we will have information on several critical points and if there is damage, the Municipality and I are ready to help, said the mayor Kostadin Kostadinov.

According to him, all the competent services were on the ground and they are working on clearing the destroyed trees in the city and settlements, as well as repairing certain points from where the water flows.

- We are working on clearing the sediments on the regional road Strumica-Bansko, which passes through the village Kuklish. There were also floods in several settlements caused by uncleaned sewers and closed canals along streets and roads. We will go out and clean them, but I appeal to the citizens not to cover and bury the canals with earth, because we should only have such a torrential rain like yesterday and have a flood, said Kostadinov.

He added that if there are facilities that have suffered more serious damage, they should contact the municipal services and if there is more material damage, the possibility of establishing a Commission for damage assessment will be considered.

Otherwise, from yesterday's storm that hit Strumica in the afternoon, several parts of the lower city were flooded around the street "Mladinska", as well as several basements, and the strong wind knocked down several trees.
