Counterattack on Trump: EU imposes ban on imports of certain food products from the US!

The European Union plans to block imports of certain types of food products that are not produced according to European standards in an attempt to protect European agricultural producers, the Financial Times (FT) reports.

The British newspaper states that this measure is reminiscent of the trade policy implemented by US President Donald Trump, Reuters reports.

The European Commission has announced that it will consider stricter restrictions on imports of certain food products next week, three unnamed European officials confirmed to the FT.

As they state, the first set of measures could include US agricultural products, such as soybeans grown with pesticides that European farmers are not allowed to use.

The announced measures are expected to provoke heated reactions in both the United States and the European Union, given the potential economic consequences that could result from such decisions. Also, the issue of standards and protection of agricultural production is becoming increasingly important in light of global trade and market competition.

This announcement further intensifies tensions in global trade, especially between the United States and the European Union, which could lead to changes in trade relations around the world. It also raises the question of the sustainability of agricultural production and consumer protection, which will certainly be the subject of further discussions and negotiations.
