The driver of the bus that burned in the tragic accident that happened on the Struma highway in Bulgaria, Ljupcho Zafirov was considering retiring, his colleague told Sloboden Pecat. Although he loved the profession, which he worked for almost his entire working life, he said that he would like to take a break from hard travel. "Unfortunately, he did not meet us," said his friend Ljupce Smilev, who is also a driver.

- I still can not believe that this tragedy happened. In the morning, when I heard about the accident, I did not think that Ljupчоo was driving the bus. I'm still in shock. Ljupco was a very experienced driver, he had many years of experience. He had driven the section on which the accident took place countless times. I do not know what could be the cause of the accident, the investigators will say, but I want the public to know that he would not be involved in any smuggling of oil or pyrotechnics. When I hear those speculations, my heart hurts, I do not want to be slandered, he had a mountain of heart, he cooperated and communicated with everyone, says his colleague.

Our interlocutor learned the driving trade from the now deceased Ljupчоo.

- I learned a lot from him. I am younger, I drive shorter distances to Greece and Albania, and I have driven to Germany several times. It is an open secret that some of the vehicles are technically defective. Some companies have their own stations for technical inspection and the opportunity to manipulate. Personally, a few years ago I lost my brakes on the way to Macedonia, returning from Greece. At that moment, fortunately, I reduced the speed with manual braking and managed to save my life and the lives of 35 other passengers, says Ljupce.

He did not want to talk much about the private life of the unfortunate driver. He only shared with us that his friend was divorced and lived alone.
