Who inhibits economic laws in times of crisis - what Milososki and Kostovski said

MP Antonio Miloshoski with a short reply to his colleagues from the ruling majority, that it is frivolous to hold an extraordinary press conference of Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski on September 28, and to this day we do not have the laws in the Assembly that he so urgently announced, started today's press conference.

- In contrast to the government's irresponsibility, we as a parliamentary group the next day on September 29 proposed a law for changes in the energy law through which schools and public enterprises and hospitals would be on the regulated market and we want to intervene as soon as possible. But, unfortunately, the ruling majority, even though the law is only made up of three members, for a week still does not pretend that the proposed legal solution of VMRO-DPMNE is being translated. That is, it is procrastinating because the government is not able to submit to the Assembly the proposed laws that Kovacevski said are urgent, that they exist, that they require support, and there is no trace of them, not even a voice in the parliamentary archives. And that's why it's pointless to talk about supporting laws that don't exist and haven't been submitted to the Parliament, said Miloshoski.

He also referred to the EBRD loan law for which his party has doubts about how the government spends the funds from such loans and from the budget itself.

-And we saw that certain media that worked on investigative journalism determined that during the crisis with the pandemic and the energy crisis, many funds were also misused for the purchase of certain things that have no contact point with the health or energy crisis. And 25 million euros from this law for a loan to the EBRD are provided for additional salaries and employment that the government does not do domestically in ELEM-ESM. And we believe that in such a crisis, when every entrepreneur, especially those with fewer employees, is fighting to save one, two or five jobs, spending a quarter of this loan for additional new employment is unproductive. And we appreciate that we cannot support such legal solutions, especially not in conditions when, according to the World Bank, Macedonia is unfortunately ranked the worst in the GDP growth forecast, except for countries that are directly involved in war, such as Russia, Ukraine or Belarus, Miloshsky said.

He emphasized that Macedonia is the leader in the region due to the lowest forecast for economic growth of only 2,1 percent until the end of this year, which may become a bad number over time.

His colleague from the assembly, MP Martin Kostovski from SDSM today called on MPs from VMRO-DPMNE to finally give up the blockades of the Assembly.

- We call for unblocking and support from VMRO-DPMNE for the laws that are important for more effective handling of the crisis, but also important for the progress of our country. Here are primarily the amendments to the Law on Energy, on energy efficiency and the Law on Construction, which facilitates the installation of photovoltaics, but also other laws. Furthermore, support and unblocking of the draft law for the guarantee of loan obligations and financing of the Project to support the liquidity of JSC ESM in conditions of the energy crisis by the EBRD. The competent committee has not convened a session yet. The Law on Oil and Oil Derivatives, as well as the implementation of the decision to cut financial resources in the parts of the Budget that have a lower percentage of fulfillment and their redistribution to items related to dealing with the energy crisis. All these legal amendments are important for the consequences of the crisis to be overcome as efficiently as possible and with as little damage as possible to the citizens, the economy and the energy sector, said Kostovski.

He added that over 50 laws are stalled in the Parliament and this is irresponsible in a time of crisis.

- After several months of blockades, VMRO-DPMNE has the opportunity to realign itself on the side of citizens' interests, finally show responsibility and get involved in the processes. The state, the citizens, have no time to lose, we call to end the blockades of the Macedonian Assembly, to ensure efficiency in passing the laws and support the key laws for the energy crisis, stressed Kostovski.
