Kotsevski: A case was opened for tax fraud and money laundering, three people were questioned, and precautionary measures were proposed for one

During yesterday, the Ministry of the Interior submitted a notification to the Public Prosecutor's Office for organized crime and corruption, and after certain data was previously collected by the IRS, for the crime of tax evasion, for the crime of fraud, that is, tax fraud and money laundering. The Public Prosecutor's Office acted immediately, established a case and submitted to the court a request for issuing search warrants in certain cities and in certain companies and homes. Since the action was successful, certain material evidence and certain computer materials were obtained, State Public Prosecutor Ljupco Kocevski said tonight in a guest appearance on MTV.

Asked if they have enough evidence to bring an indictment, Kocevski clarified that for now it is very early and added that it is a pre-investigation procedure.

- At the moment, I have just been informed that three people have been heard before the public prosecutor, with precautionary measures being proposed for one person, for confiscation of the travel document and for appearing in court, that is, another state authority in a certain period. And we hope that the court will respect our request, emphasizes Kocevski.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Panče Toškovski, informed today that after yesterday's searches in companies in Strumica, Skopje and Gostivar, four people were detained for tax evasion, tax fraud and money laundering.

- This is one of the cases that I can freely say that there are well-founded suspicions that it is an epic crime, which unfortunately is once again at the expense of Macedonia's budget, i.e. the people's money. The initial information is that it is a question of millions of sums which are the result of several crimes, tax evasion, tax fraud and money laundering. In the interest of the overall procedure, I could not go into details, I respect the presumption of innocence, said Toshkovski in Ohrid, where he opened the 22nd Trade Union Sports Games, organized by the Macedonian Police Union.

Yesterday's action was carried out in more than a dozen locations on the territory of the country. Actions were taken in coordination with the Prosecutor's Office for prosecuting organized crime by order of a judge in a preliminary procedure, as well as together with other state institutions, such as the IRS, the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Administration.

Earlier on Facebook, the Minister of Finance Gordana Dimitrieska - Kochoska expressed her gratitude to the Public Revenue Administration and Director Elena Petrova, to colleagues from Strumica and other cities who, as she stated, together with me worked tirelessly all day in implementing the action in Strumica.

- Some of them directly with me in Strumica, and some through other cities of Macedonia. Also, a huge thank you to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Bureau of Public Security and the Customs Administration who have been a huge support to colleagues from the IRS. Today we showed that a united team is stronger than anything. We continue dedicatedly and responsibly for the good of everyone!, announced Dimitrieska - Kochoska.
