The Vredi coalition announced this afternoon that a few days ago it withdrew the appointment of Afrona Vervizoli as auditor of the IPA funds. Although, as stated by the coalition, she has an excellent CV and significant professional experience, a decision was made to temporarily replace her with another staff member from their ranks.

- This decision was made in order to ensure that all strict standards and requirements of the European Union will be fully met, while Afrona completed its obligation by obtaining the certificate, the announcement states.

In addition, Vredi believes that it is of crucial importance to pay attention to research and detection of abuses of EU funds that have occurred in the past. These abuses not only left traces in the documentation, but also caused the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) to request the return of several million euros from the state.

The Vredi coalition, as stated, remains committed to the principles of transparency, responsibility and accountability in the management of public and European funds.
