Vlada Uroшеevi.

The novel "True, but not very probable history of the Pustopolski family, about the house by the Vardar and about the four rings" by Vlada Urošević published by "Ars Libris" is the winner of the "Novel of the Year" award for 2022.

The Foundation for the Advancement and Promotion of Cultural Values "Slavko Janevski" records another successful realization of the selection for the "Novel of the Year" award. Thirty-five novels were in competition this year for this prestigious literary award, which is awarded for the 24th time in the country, and the decision to award it was made by the committee, which consisted of: Simona Jovanoska (writer and last year's laureate), Sasho Kokalanov, Gotse Ristovski, Ilir Aydini and Katerina Bogoeva (representative of the "Slavko Janevski" Foundation).

Four meetings were held, and after the three election rounds, in addition to Urošević's novel, the following also entered the finals for the prize: "The Navel of Light" by Venko Andonovski, published by "Three", "Letter to Gloria" by Zivko Grozdanoski, in edition of "Ili-ili", "Stinging Pillar" by Tomislav Osmanli, published by ViG Zenica. The Novel of the Year 2022 was chosen by secret ballot and by majority vote at the last meeting held.

The winner of the award was announced in the "Bukva" cafe and bookstore.

- Vlada Urošević, reviving the archaic Macedonian language, tells the history of the Skopje Pustopolski family in the novel, skilfully draws it into the story in such an unobtrusive way, leaving the reader with pleasant feelings and satisfaction after every page read. Non-standard in every sense, Vlada Urošević's novel addresses us through its protagonists with changing fortunes and tells us about life from another, now distant time that passed before the face of Vardar as we do not know it, and witnessed many beautiful and not so beautiful things. . A time that in the novel begins in the summer of 1898, and lasts until the first decades after the end of the Second World War. The story draws you in with its nonchalance, its moderation, its impressive imagination and its seriously built characters in terms of profile and weight. There is something "defiant" in this novel, something that defiantly stands out from others, and only the best can do that - the committee pointed out.

In his speech, the winner of the award Vlada Urošević pointed out that he had been following the awarding of the award for the past 24 years, had read most of the award-winning novels and believes that it was received by many outstanding Macedonian authors with special and exceptional works.

The fact that the "Slavko Janevski" foundation is the initiator of the award gives him even greater satisfaction that he is the winner of the award. The writer Slavko Janevski, our first novelist, considers Urošević an extremely important author with whom he had a dynamic relationship throughout his life - from fierce quarrels to a great and true friendship.

Regarding his latest, now award-winning novel, Urošević explained that he had been writing it for about two and a half years and had made great efforts not to stop at the pace, because when writing a novel, the most dangerous thing is for the writer to stop and hesitate in which direction to continue. further. A concrete incentive for writing the novel was the vision of an old house near Vardar, around which the whole story is woven.

The "Novel of the Year" award consists of a plaque, an original statuette and a monetary amount of 150.000 denars, and the general patron is "Komercijalna banka" AD Skopje. The award will be presented at a ceremony to be announced later.
