On May 18, in the "Salon 19.19" in KIC-Skopje, at 19.19, a promotion of the book "Shaken World" by Irena Jurceva will be published by the publishing house "Templum".

The promoter will be Aleksandra Jurukovska, and fragments will be read by Svetla Jaksic and Emanuela Kovacevska Kitanovska. After the conversation, a music performance will be given by Jasna Trpkova and Darko Jovanov.

It is a collection of stories that thematically begin with everyday life in Skopje Square and end in an unnamed city in an oppressive dystopian society. These are not classic dystopian stories, but predominantly psychological, intertwined with internal struggles of the characters.

The characters, on the threshold of a new time, thrown into the cold of existence and pushed into injustices, are left before the choice to violate the imposed norms. They face the need to discover and examine the divine and human dimension in themselves. Full of symbols and allusions, on the edge between dream and reality, the stories enter the miraculous and the fantastic.

Irena Jurceva (1982) graduated from the Faculty of Philology in Skopje, at the Department of Translation and Interpretation. She worked as an English and French language teacher and translated more than fifteen books into Macedonian.

In 2017 she won an award at the International Poetry Festival "Literary Sparks" in Gostivar. So far, she has published the poetry book "Secrets" (2017) and the collection of short stories "White is the scariest color" (2019), for which she received the award for debut prose manuscript "The New!" By "Templum". Her poetry has been published in several literary magazines, Templum Publishing House reported.
