Talks about the past are important, but so are conversations about the future, emphasizes the European Parliament Rapporteur for the country, MEP Ilhan Kucuk, at today's panel discussion within the conference BGMK2030 "Civic contribution to building trust, unity and alliance", emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation, expressed the belief that the new governments of Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria will continue on the path of openness in order to completely overcome all misunderstandings.

- There is no more important factor than trust, there is no universal agreement, there is no agreement, which is equally good, there is no agreement that satisfies both parties, but every agreement provides a legal framework to start a conversation. I believe that the new Government of Bulgaria and the new Government headed by Kovachevski will continue on the path of opening opportunities for better understanding. From my experience, not only as a reporter, but also as a person who comes here to talk to the citizens, to the politicians, I can conclude that the only problem is that we do not understand each other, that we do not know each other. "The misunderstanding comes from there and good examples should be given, that we are on the right path to understand each other better, such is the example of the agreement between MIA and the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, because through constant exchange of information people will know more about themselves," he said. Bitch.

According to him, it is important to encourage citizens and local government to intensively participate in the development of relations between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia.

- I am here not only as a rapporteur of the European Parliament for Northern Macedonia, but also as an incorrigible optimist that the two countries can understand and be an example of the partnership in the Balkans for European standards. I believe that we must commit ourselves with all our might and work tirelessly for the realization of this idea, because our citizens deserve it, "Civic contribution to building trust, unity and alliance", organized by Renew Europe and AUE-FON in cooperation and with the participation of representatives of the local self-government and the civil sector from Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria. "I can not help but admire the continuation of the dialogue in the last two weeks and I very much hope that after a break of more than a year and a half, the intergovernmental talks will finally yield concrete results," Kucuk said.

He added that the Agreement on Friendship and Cooperation between Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria and the comprehensive development and deepening of friendly good neighborly relations are in the interest of the peoples of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia.

Mayors Radoslav Revanski, Visar Ganiu, Kostadin Kostadinovski, Timcho Mucunski, as well as many other youth and educational representatives also participated in the conference "Civic Contribution in Building Trust, Unity and Alliance".

The event is aimed at encouraging debate on the current situation between the two countries, the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the Republic of Bulgaria, the challenges and opportunities for civic contribution in building trust, unity and alliance between the two countries.
