A kilo of onions is 90 denars because the demand is greater than the supply, explained Angeloski from SSK
The President of the Union of Economic Chambers (SSK), Trajan Angeloski, stated today that any price freeze has positive and negative consequences.
"If the Government thinks it should introduce such a measure, it is best to explain what its idea is and what it wants to achieve, he said, adding that he prefers a free market."
- On September 8, 1991, the citizens of this country voted for independence, for a free economy, for a free market. The free market is a feature and benefit of that independence and we generally prefer a free economic market, but the Government has its own sphere of action and if it thinks so, it should best explain what its idea is, what it wants to achieve, whether it is of a temporary nature, how long would it take, said the president of the Union before the working meeting with the chief executive officer of Macedonian Stock Exchange AD Ivan Shteriev.
When asked by a journalist how it is possible for a kilo of onions to cost 90 denars, Angeloski explained that the reason is probably the high demand at the expense of the supply (which is the reason for every increase in the price of all products, always).
- We have received a dozen requests from European companies to buy onions from the country. There is definitely a shortage of this product on the European market. I guess that's the reason for the high price. We live in a real world. If there is more demand than supply, prices always rise, said the president of SSK.
